Ely Centre receives grant award from Fermanagh Trust Members of The Ely Centre in Enniskillen with limited mobility are now able to take part in the centre’s excursions thanks to a grant from The Fermanagh Trust. The Ely Centre has received a grant award worth £1000 from The Fermanagh Trust to buy a selection of lightweight wheelchairs for its members use. The wheelchairs will be used on day trips and at activities taking place in venues outside The Ely Centre. Lee McDowell, Ely Centre Manager, said: “The staff and committee are extremely grateful to The Fermanagh Trust for this grant. “Wheelchairs will enable those with a disability or mobility problem to participate fully in The Ely Centre’s calendar of activities. I’m delighted to say Ely Centre excursions and day trips are now accessible and inclusive to all.” Over the course of the autumn and winter months The Ely Centre has planned a number of excursions for its adult members to promote peace and reconciliation and provide respite for carers of victims and survivors of the troubles, as well as their dependents. The centre’s youth project, Elohim, is launching a new programme of activities for young people aged 16 – 25 years old in September. Here young people will have the opportunity to take part in everything from fitness instructing to guitar and driving theory lessons plus much more.
